YBUL is working actively together with its partners, government and private sector in order to achieve a global shift to clean and renewable energy development and accomplish

The interest of YBUL in renewable energy application for rural communities is, aside from its availability, its promising function to contribute to the increase of well-being of the rural population. At the same time, compared to fossil fuels application, it has the advantage that it does not create pollutants to the atmosphere.

YBUL is concerned with the promotion of efforts and businesses to preserve the quality of the function of environment and actively participates in the development of governmental policies regarding environment and energy issue, at least at national level.

YBUL recognizes that renewable energy resources experiences injustice. Renewable resources have to endure unfair competition once converted into electricity, compare to heavily subsidized fossil fuel based electricity. This fact hampers the extension of renewable energy utilization, despite its potential and abundantly availability in rural area. Indonesia currently has wind and wave energy with electricity potency of 9 MW, solar radiation of 5 kWh/square meter/day, river flow for micro hydro of 59 MW, as well as agricultural waste for biogas and biomass of 50 MW. Unfortunately, the potential of this resources is not yet utilized optimally.

The effort for renewable energy intensification and extensification is not only capable of reducing the energy crisis, but also of solving environmental problems due to fossil fuel utilization. The energy sector has been known to contribute significantly to the global climate change in spite of its fundamental role on carrying on national development. Hence a sustainable approach is urgently required, through Green House Gas emission reduction under the global Clean Development Mechanism.
