RESULT OF THE CORRIDOR FOREST DISCUSSION Print

Discussion of Corridor Forest was held on 26 April 2011 at the Restaurant Gumati, Bogor, attended by 15 peoples from the institutions such as: BCI, IPB, JK3GHS, YBUL, KORIDOR INSTITUTE, JARMASKOR, TNGHS, and LOCAL GOVERNMENT OF BOGOR DISTRICT. The discussion began at 09:30 WIB until 12:30 WIB with following objectives are: (1) Sharing of activities and action plans in the corridor; (2) Improving communications in activities in the corridor; and (3) Developing the ideas of the mechanism of strategic activities in the corridor and synergistic

The Issues on the around of the Corridor Forest : (1) The Corridor Forest damaged because there is no primary forest, with an area of bush 1590.48 ha (37.81%). Which reduces the function of the corridor as a forest area and the movement of wildlife crossings. (2) Data on the status of biodiversity is still minimal. While TNGHS will be promoted by the government become a biodiversity model at the level of ASEAN. (3) There is Limited land for Community Agriculture that permit people to open up land in the corridor area. (4) The development community is still small, partial and lacking of community involved, than the number of residents around the the Corridor Forest to reach 1.884 families in the village of Cipeuteuy, with 7.589 peoples. Purasari Village 10.967 peoples, Purwabhakti 6.712 peoples, and Kabandungan Village 9.612 peoples. (5) Empowering community still lack a strategic place, where people still viewed as objects of the various agencies. (6) There is a lack of synergy from the parties to develop activities in the corridor area because the media or other tools for merging parties with equivalent positions are still lacking.

Proposes of strategy activities in the Corridor Forest are: (1) Reviewing Corridor Restoration Plan of Action which is made adjusted to actual condition. (2) Reconnected to efforts made by the Corridor Forest for the survival of long-term program to achieve goals; (3) The priority of Corridor Restoration in the area of 571.12 ha which is this area is closest to the movement of the indicator species of primates namely Javan Gibbon (Hylobates moloch) and his condition shrubs. (outlined in the Action Plan document Corridor Restoration, 2009). (4) The development of business activity, with new centre of growth (Growth Pool) such as: (a) Eco-Turism Biodiversity with activity as the main attraction, (b) Information Centre, (c) Information and Research Centre, and (d) The development of special zones. The regions outside the town of forest, in the Community Based Eco-tourism, water service and the agricultural and livestock activities and support system. (5) The activity can be developed with community in the Corridor Forest is to develop a special zone to ensure the public with access rights selection native plants and do not interfere with the growth of standing timber. The native plants can be developed are saninten (Castanopsis javanica), which is have high export value, and other plants under the Ginger family (Zingerberaceae) as kapol, cardamom, red ginger, ginger elephant, turmeric, laja and others. (6) Community's Forest, the activities in outside area can be developed in the area of community or non-productive areas outside the region TNGHS that potential to reach 800 hectares. Initiation of the Community's Forest has been carried out based on JARMASKOR area of 10 ha with 10,000 trees. (7) Community Based Eco-Tourism, can be developed in Kampong Muara, Cibunian Village, Pamijahan District, Bogor Regency. The main attraction of this village is KAMPONG ADAT which has a tradition of charity for the earth called SEREN TAUN. Eco-tourism is tourism which is developed to meet the 3 principles namely: Conservation Value to save the region with the recovery of tourism revenue, Educational Value, tourists are invited to see the forest, environment and biodiversity, traditional knowledge, including cultural community micro-hydro, Economic value, revenue from visits can be a source of public revenue institutional design with a strong economy. (8) Development of Social Institutions (Community Foudation): Social Institutions in the community to improve the public position of the object which received a lot of activity during this work with the parties to become the role important holder or subjects in designing, implementing and monitoring activities in the community. The institution is divided into: (a) The Economic Institution who can take the form cooperative or the other and (b) Institute for Community Mobilization and Capacity Building, serves as a strengthening of economic institutions that are run by corridors of forest conservation activities involving the community. (9) Support to Economic Institutional Funding with High Value facilitated the community or group of community around the corridor, and long term. (10) Market Development Plan (captive market) the product of economic activity in communities around the corridors in the community such as vegetables from the cafeteria thank Chevron, Chevron Eco-tourism, water corridor packaging products used by Chevron and others. (11) Development JK3GHS return function (Networking Partnership of The Salak and Halimun Conservation Area) as a forum for communication or sharing, Knowledge Management between the parties who work around TNGHS equivalent position in the role and function. To control the normal behavior in collaborative activities.
