IGES Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) Capacity Building in Indonesia (FY 2010)

IGES has been implementing capacity building activities in host countries on the CDM, initiated by the Ministery of the Environment of Japan, since 2003. In Indonesia, it focuses on the activities that contribute to improve the function of the Designated National Authority (DNA) and relevant institutional capacity, to promote the development of the CDM projects while disseminationg relevant information.

The purpose of the program is to:

  • Strengthen the capacity of potential Indonesian Designated Operational Entity (DOE)
  • Strengthen the capacity of the Indonesian Designated National Autority (DNA)
  • To assist the development of potential CDM projects

These are interrelated parts of a comprehensive policy framework in strengthening the CDM application in Indonesia.

The program includes the following activities:

  1. Organize Focus Group Discussion to review policy framework on the necessity of a national/local DOE
  2. Organize a workshop for potential Indonesian DOE; to strengthen the capacity of potential Indonesian entities with potential to become the DOE.
  3. Organize DNA Workshop; to strengthen the function of new DNA organized under the DNPI (National Council on Climate Change Indonesia).
  4. Identify candidate projects for CDM support through informal consultation meetings and utilization of YBULís network.
  5. Identify key issues and required follow-on actions during the series of workshop will be conveyed to all stakeholders through a one day workshop.
